PKS Challenge 38 :: Anything Goes

Time for another Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge, and this week it's "Anything Goes" (original post here).  The rules are very simple: you can make anything, but it must include a Peachy Keen Stamp.

I love the two little Angels in the "Our 2 Angels in Heaven" stamp set, so I stamped, Copic-coloured and close-cut them out.  Next, with my current passion for easel cards, I made a cardbase in white Kaszazz cardstock and used Wild Honey and Faded Jeans Distress Ink and the Inking Tool to create an ethereal background for my two gorgeous Angels.  I popped my Angels up on the background to give them more dimension.

I then cut out the "My Creative Time - Curly Label Die" with some vellum and stamped the sentiment "Believe!" from the O2AiH set in VersaMark, and heat-embossed it with Glossy Black embossing powder. This curly label was then adhered above the Angels' heads.  I doodled around the edge of the curly label with some silver gel pen.

I also cut out a piece of vellum and stamped the sentiment "Never fear... When angels are near!" and  heat-embossed that with Glossy Black embossing powder too.  This piece of vellum also had the silver gel pen doodling around the edge, and I corner-rounded two corners for a different look.

I'm really pleased with how the whole card came together!

1st Birthday Card!

My good friend has the most delightful little girl, and this little girl turns one today!  She is such a gorgeous bubba, and is quite possibly the most-loved child in our community - everyone wants to hold her and she goes to everyone!

So I wanted to make her a special birthday card today, using my new-found technique of easel cards.  There's nothing too technical about this one - I just stamped a cute little teddy bear and coloured her in pink with my Copics, cut her out and popped her up on the cardface.  I stamped a mini birthday cupcake over the cardface background and used the "My Creative Time - Stitched Circle" die and "My Creative Time - All Around Birthdays" stamp set.

I used a sentiment from the "Peachy Keen Stamps - Our 2 Angels in Heaven" stamp set and put a pretty pink button with silver DMC metallic thread through it.  Very simple card, but heartfelt...

Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge 37 :: Sketch

I really love the sketch for this Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge (original post here).  It's a very clean and simple design and I think it lends itself quite well to a Christmas card theme.  That's the way I've gone, anyway!

 

I started with a piece of red cardstock from my stash, and cut out the "Merry Christmas" from the "Simply Charmed" Cricut Cartridge (I hid the guides for the little faces in the "e" and "a").  I then matted that piece of red cardstock on some Vanilla Cardstock so that the vanilla came through the negative space left from the cut.

I then traced and cut out a portion of a circle from the edge of a piece "Be Merry - Cheer" patterned paper by Kaisercraft.  I made my bauble using my new AnnaBelle Stamps "Decorated Christmas" dies and stamps.

Now for the fun part - selecting an adorable Peachy Keen Face for my bauble!!  I just love the "Happy Lashes Assortment" faces and so I selected one for my bauble, one to fill in the "a" and the eyes only of another one to fill in the top of the "e".  They're so cute!

I popped my bauble up to give dimension and tied a bow with some metallic stranded DMC Cotton.  I added some faux stitching around the red cardstock, Cinnamon Stickles to the  brown dots of the patterned paper and put some bling above the bauble (in keeping with the sketch requirements).  I put my card together on some Kraft cardstock.  The entire card is 5.5 x 5.5.  I love it!

A special card for special people...

Having received the Peachy Keen PK413 Gingerbread House stamp just recently, I knew exactly the card I wanted to make with it.  Some special friends of mine had a bit of bad luck last Christmas.  A freak storm hit Melbourne and its surrounds on Christmas Day, with lots of localised hail and flood damage.  Their brand new home that they had moved into only two weeks before Christmas was flooded.  Now some eight-and-a-half months later, they are finally back in their new home and I thought this card would be the perfect gift for them.  Hope you like it!  

I coloured the house with my Copics and added some Stickles to jazz it up a bit.  I then shaded in the background with chalks (pity you can't really see it in the photos).  I created my own sentiment on the computer.  I also used the alphabet stamps from My Creative Time's "Just Simply Live" stamp and die set.

Peachy Challenge 32::Sketch::August 2012

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Peachy Keen Stamps and thought there's no way I could make a card for a PKS Challenge and not include a PKS image!  So, having just recently figured out how to use the PKKO dies and co-ordinating stamps, I knew I had to create a card featuring Santa Tree!  And here it is!

The colour scheme I have used for Santa Tree is inspired by a young friend of mine, Master Harry (7) who coloured in a Santa Tree for me one day when he was at my house.  I have modified it (I didn't think the blue tree trunk really gave it a Christmassy Feel), but other than that it is pretty much what Harry created.  I just got to use the Copics and Stickles, that's all!

I have cut a piece of patterned paper (Kaisercraft Be Merry Collection) and inked the edges with green.  I have then put a 2" band of gold wire-edged ribbon across the bottom of the patterned paper.  This has then been adhered to the front of a plain white card 3.25" x 5.5".  Santa Tree has then been placed over the top and I made a label using a My Favourite Things die and stamped the sentiment from the PKS Decorate Me Christmas Tree Stamp Set.  I then hand-drew some holly berries on the tag and highlighted with more Stickles.  I hope you like it!

MCT Challenge - "Host Emma" - Pinterest Inspired Project

I have never been on Pinterest, much less really know what it's about, so I thought this Challenge was the perfect time for me to have a look.  After scrolling through for a while, I came across this post on the ravelry website.  The link to my inspiration piece is HERE

When I saw this cute crochet pillow, I knew exactly the card I wanted to make.  Using my Gypsy I created a grid by welding together elongated rectangles from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge.  I made each vertical rectangle 0.3" x 6", and each horizontal rectangle 0.3" x 4".  I then aligned the rectangles as gridlines on the mat grids on the Gypsy to space them 1" apart.

After cutting out my grid using Crab Grass Green Core'dinations cardstock, I then stuck it onto a piece of white cardstock, 4" x 6".  Using my Peachy Keen Assorted Face Stamp Sets (Happy Lashes, Laughy Taffy, Blushing Brides, Cheery-O's, Funshine Faces, Wide-eyed Kids and Boy Mates) I placed different smiling faces in random squares of the grid.  I also used the small flower from the PKS Spring Bouquet Stamp Set in the top left and bottom right corners, and the star from the PKS Decorate Me Christmas Tree set as well.

I cut a label from a My Favourite Things Die on peach-coloured cardstock and stamped a sentiment from the PKS Spring Bouquet Stamp Set - "Thinking of you... makes me smile!" and adhered this to the grid.  I then put a peach-coloured ribbon around one of the horizontal grid lines under the MFT Label.

Using my Copics and my Pebbles Chalks, I coloured in the little faces, and then added some highlights to the star and the grid with some Stickles.  Once it was was dry I adhered the whole 4"x6" piece to a card I had made from Kraft Cardstock, 4.5" x 6.5".  Here is the finished product!  I hope you like it!

If friends were flowers, I'd pick you!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to quickly post a card that I have made this evening, for one of my best friends.  She has recently helped me through a difficult time, and I wanted to show her my appreciation.  I love the sentiment on my stamp:

     "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you!"

It really sums up our friendship.  

I've cut out a paperdoll at 3.5", used PKS Funshine Faces stamp, cut out the wedding dress on PDDU and highlighted it with my white gel pen.  I also cut out the flower strip from Plantin Schoolbook twice, once in green and once in pink and just cut off the flowers.  There's a bit of Pebbles Chalks to highlight my girl's cheeks, some metallic silver gel pen to give her earrings and a necklace, and some other metallic gel pen highlights.  The base of the card is a yellow/cream Bazzill Weave, with a background of Creative Memories Gazebo paper (it has a pale green soft pattern through it).

Flaunt It Friday - Challenge

OK, this is the first time I've ever taken part in a challenge, so here goes!

I don't have the Winter Frolic cartridge, so I used my Gypsy to create my own version of this adorable little snowman from Page 29.  I used images from the Wild Cards cartridge, George and Basic Shapes, and even used a bumper fender from the Cars cartridge (for the top of the ear muffs!), then hid the parts of the images I didn't want, welded it all together and took a scarf from the Every Day Paper Dolls cartridge.  I finished off with PKS Everyday Character Face Parts for the face and the buttons down the front, and added some KindyGlitz in Crystalina (similar to Stickles, I'm assuming!) for some bling on the scarf and on the ear muffs.  I cut my snowman out 3 times on Bazzill Weave and stuck them together to give some dimension (using my Xyron 5").  The backing paper on the card is Making Memories Glitter Diagonal Stripe, and I cut the sentiment "Greetings" out of the Christmas cartridge on plain black cardstock.

Excited - I actually won something!

Just really quickly, I'm so excited that I actually won something over the weekend.  I purchased some new Peachy Keen Stamps this weekend just gone, and as a result, went into the draw to win a $20 gift voucher as it was their Thanksgiving Sale.  How stoked was I to get an email this morning confirming that I had won a voucher!!  WOW!

As promised - paperdolls at school

As I mentioned in my "I LOVE Paperdolls" post, I have been making 'occupation' paperdolls with my son's Grade 1/2 class at school.  The kids got so much out of it!  We used my Peachy Keen face stamps, chalks and gel pens to highlight all of the different dolls.  A few samples below:

The general idea was to use all the creative features behind each particular key on the Everyday Paper Doll cartridge (with a few specialised ones thrown in - the Cricut cartridges don't seem to have many AFL players and/or football ovals with goal posts - I did have to improvise!)  Then, each child could build a scene relevant to their paperdoll (having drawn an 'occupation' out of the hat).  As you can see, the doctor and nurse were combined, with the hospital in the background, air and ground ambulances arriving, etc.

My Gypsy made the whole process so much easier, as I was able to pre-cut my cardstock to suit the virtual mat on which the designs were prepared, and my Expression did the rest.

The Peachy Keen stamps were a huge hit, and my old set of chalks got a great workout too (time for some new ones...)

Next stop in the classroom will be Christmas-themed projects starting this Friday - however, I have also been busy with other  projects and there will be more posts to follow this evening, so stay (or become!) tuned!!

I LOVE Paperdolls!

My favourite cartridges at the moment are definitely the Paperdolls!  I have been using them for Friday afternoon craft sessions at my son's school - Grade 1/2s.  The first set of paperdolls we made were from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge, and we made Knights, Mermaids, Princesses, Sailor Boys, Cowboys and Cowgirls (all at 9").  Recently, I have made "Occupation" paperdolls, from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge.  I will upload the photos from the classroom shortly, but below are two samples I made to show the kids what they would look like.  We made a total of 27 paperdolls with backgrounds, all at either 5.5" or 6".  I have also introduced my Peachy Keen Stamps to this recent endeavour, with my face stamps - LOVE THEM TOO!! :)

I have really gotten alot out of my Friday afternoon craft sessions with the kids, and I truly believe they have valued it too.  There is no 'right' or 'wrong' with our craft work, but there is listening and taking pride in our work, and each child in the class, regardless of their abilities, has truly blossomed.  They are all amazing, and their work is amazing too!  Can't wait to post a photo of it all!
