Rye Pier - 12x12 Layout

I thought I might put together another layout today, and chose to use more photos from a day trip I took with my own two kidlets and two 'ring-ins' as well (the 'ring-ins' being Tayah and Emily).  We had fish & chips at the foreshore picnic area in Rye before taking a long walk out on the Pier.

It's just a very simple layout, clean and symmetrical just the way I like them.  The base is a neutral colour textured cardstock.  I used my Walnut Stain Distress Ink to ink the edges of the base cardstock.  I have used Double Mates cardstock in Perfect Plum to mat the photos and some black cardstock to double mat the main photo and add a feature strip down the left side under the photos.  The title is cut from black cardstock using my Expression and the "Hannah Montana - Daddy's Girl" font (except for the word 'on' which is done using Making Memories Rub-Ons).

The pelican and the word 'beach' are from the "Life is a Beach" cartridge and I cut it out twice - once on black with all the guides removed and then once on grey.  I have then used my white gel pen and yellow Zig Writer to add feature and detail to the pelican.  Once he was adhered to the page I went back and put some light chalking detail around the pelican to give a beach effect.

I have used the faux stitching line stamp from the "My Creative Time - Gift Card Sentiments" stamp set to make guides for my journalling.  My final touch was to add some faux stitching of my own on some of the photo mats in black, and to add some seagull silhouettes to the upper part of the page (the sky!).

Cheers!

Scrapbook Boutique Challenge - All A Flutter!

I'm posting my first challenge piece since returning to the blogisphere - The "All A Flutter" challenge over at Scrapbook Boutique (http://scrapbookboutiquenews.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/a-new-challenge-has-started.html).
Challenge : Create a project using the photo (below) as your inspiration & making it "All a Flutter - Add a butterfly".
The project can be a card, a scrapbook layout or off the page project......it's totally up to you!

I'm truly in card-making mode at the moment, and so I made a quite simple card, 4.5" x 6".  I used an embossing folder through my Cuttlebug to emboss a pretty pattern on a piece of white cardstock.  I then used my VersaMark inks to ink diagonal lines to form a rainbow pattern.  This was then matted onto a piece of orange cardstock.

I then used a butterfly from the Hannah Montana cartridge as well as the shadow and cut them out on white cardstock.  The shadow was inked in pastel yellow, pink, blue and green in quarters, and then the detailed butterfly was placed over the top and I used Kindyglitz in Crystalina to completely cover the butterfly layer.  This was attached to the card using pop-dots.

Now, one part of the challenge that I'd forgotten about until after I'd made my card was not to use Digi Stamps (oops!).  I did in fact make my own sentiment, and then used  My Creative Time's Stitched Oval Die to cut it out.  So I may not qualify for the challenge as such, but it's my first one and I sure had fun making it!!

Roped in to helping the Fundraising Committee...

OK, so I eluded in an earlier post that the Fundraising Committee may be able to use my services, and that of my Gypsy...  how you may ask??  Well, to really reach out to our small school community, and get them amped up for a fantabulous Fundraising BBQ, we need some great signage, right?  Enter the Gypsy, with some A3 paper on my 24x12 Expression Cutting mat, and some Cricut Markers and Cri-Kits gel pens - voila!  (Too many different font cartridges used to name them all!)

We then photocopied this, double-sided, and had the students colour it in to take home and put on their fridges.  We also used additional coloured-in copies to put around the local area in shops, etc, to drum up more interest.

Also occurring around the school at the same time was the annual Disco night, and so an additional poster was required... (using the Hannah Montana cartridge)
My Gypsy and markers were kept very busy in the lead-up to the Fundraising BBQ, as laminated signs for each stall were required.  Here are just a few...

There were many parents up many nights colouring these ones in, prior to laminating.  There's even a bit of Kindyglitz (similar to Stickles) on each of them for a bit of pizazz!
It was a fantastic night (apart from a thunderstorm that forced the whole event indoors!)

We were only just scratching the surface of what we could now achieve with this little marvel called a Gypsy...

Cards for Nan's Birthday

Today was Nan's 94th birthday, and I decided to make some cards for her.  I'm a scrapbooker generally, rather than cardmaking, but my Gypsy makes the transition so easy!  So, I used some card bases from the Smiley Cards cartridge, and welded in the shadow of a heart from the Stamping Cartridge, a butterfly from the Hannah Montana cartridge and a heart from the Indie Art cartridge.  I then cut out the non-shadow image of each of them in contrasting colours and used my Zig 2-way glue pen to adhere.  I stamped the back of each card with "AUTHENTIC Scrapping Creation".  I reckon they turned out pretty well... for a non-cardmaker (and non-stamper)!
