Quilted Card - "Happy Birthday"

I'm having fun with these quilted cards!!  I found a different design on the internet (here) and I have 'lifted' it to create my own design for a quilted card.  Here is the original design...
I've used  "Echo Park - Simply Eclectic" papers to complete this card.  Here is my recipe:

Card Base - 5" (white cardstock)
Mat - 4.75" (teal)
2 x 1.5" squares (teal) - cut on diagonal (represents pale pink in pattern)
2 x 1.5" squares (pink) - cut on diagonal (represents pale blue in pattern)
8 x 0.75" squares (pink) (represents pale blue in pattern)
1 x 1.5" square (hex pattern) (represents lilac in pattern)
8 x 0.75" squares (hex pattern) (represents lilac in pattern)

I also then cut a flower from a Cuttlebug Die in the pink and hex pattern papers, and the "My Creative Time - Stitched Oval" die in white cardstock.  I have edged the Stitched Oval cutout with Blue Lagoon VersaColour ink and have stamped the sentiment "Happy Birthday" from the "My Creative Time - Gift Card Sentiments" stamp set.

I have added some Stickles to the flower and to the green hexagon wherever it appears on the hex patterned paper just for a bit of something special.

I absolutely LOVE how this turned out!  My friend has just asked me to make a 70th Birthday card for her M-I-L.  I think I might apply another quilt pattern...

Cheerio!

Scrapbook Boutique Challenge - All A Flutter!

I'm posting my first challenge piece since returning to the blogisphere - The "All A Flutter" challenge over at Scrapbook Boutique (http://scrapbookboutiquenews.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/a-new-challenge-has-started.html).
Challenge : Create a project using the photo (below) as your inspiration & making it "All a Flutter - Add a butterfly".
The project can be a card, a scrapbook layout or off the page project......it's totally up to you!

I'm truly in card-making mode at the moment, and so I made a quite simple card, 4.5" x 6".  I used an embossing folder through my Cuttlebug to emboss a pretty pattern on a piece of white cardstock.  I then used my VersaMark inks to ink diagonal lines to form a rainbow pattern.  This was then matted onto a piece of orange cardstock.

I then used a butterfly from the Hannah Montana cartridge as well as the shadow and cut them out on white cardstock.  The shadow was inked in pastel yellow, pink, blue and green in quarters, and then the detailed butterfly was placed over the top and I used Kindyglitz in Crystalina to completely cover the butterfly layer.  This was attached to the card using pop-dots.

Now, one part of the challenge that I'd forgotten about until after I'd made my card was not to use Digi Stamps (oops!).  I did in fact make my own sentiment, and then used  My Creative Time's Stitched Oval Die to cut it out.  So I may not qualify for the challenge as such, but it's my first one and I sure had fun making it!!
